Looking for a Durable alternative? Here is the honest math.

Durable builds a working website in under a minute for $25 a month or less, and if that is all your business needs right now, this page will say so plainly. It covers what Durable does well, the documented limitations, what a managed build changes, and what the price difference buys, with sources named for every claim.

The short version

Durable is an AI website builder: describe your business and it generates a site in seconds, with a CRM, invoicing, and marketing helpers bundled in, at prices that start free and top out under $50 a month. Gold Strategics is a managed service: a person builds the site custom, runs it, and adds lead capture, follow-up, AI search visibility, and branded paperwork around it, for $80 a month plus a $250 one time build fee. Durable optimizes for getting online fast and cheap. We optimize for what happens after that, when the site has to win jobs against competitors and somebody has to keep it working. Both are legitimate purchases. They are just different ones.

What Durable does well

Fairness first, and there is real substance here. The generation speed is not a gimmick; independent reviews like Website Planet and Tooltester confirm you can go from nothing to a live page in minutes. The free plan means you can try the whole thing without a card. The bundle is broader than most builders at the price, with a simple CRM, invoicing, and AI writing helpers included. And the support team is a bright spot: reviews on Trustpilot frequently praise support staff by name, which is rare for a low-cost software product. If you are testing an idea, working with almost no budget, or replacing a Facebook page as your only web presence, Durable is a reasonable place to start, and we are not going to pretend otherwise.

Verified pricing, as of August 2026

Numbers straight from Durable's own pricing page, checked the day this page was last updated. There is a free plan on a durable.site subdomain with tight monthly limits. The Launch plan is $25 a month, or $22 a month billed annually, and adds a custom domain, analytics, SEO features, and capped AI agent usage. The Grow plan is $49 a month, or $41 a month billed annually, and raises the caps, adds team members, and includes onboarding help. Durable has changed its plan structure before, so treat their pricing page as the source of truth, not this one.

Why people search for an alternative

Read through the independent reviews and the lower-scoring Trustpilot entries and the same themes repeat. We are deliberately not quoting a star rating, because scores shift and cherry-picking one is not honest. The patterns are what matter.

The design ceiling. Reviews commonly describe Durable sites as clean but generic, with limited customization once you want to move beyond the generated layout. AI generation draws from templates, so Durable sites tend to resemble other Durable sites. If your customers get three quotes before hiring, your website is competing on that screen, and looking like the other two is a real cost.

SEO depth. The plans list SEO features, and some Trustpilot reviewers describe sites that stayed hard to find in search despite them. That is not unique to Durable, no builder can promise rankings and neither can we, but a generated single-page site with thin content has structural limits on what search engines and AI assistants can quote from it.

Ownership and export. Durable hosts sites on its own platform. Its pricing FAQ commits to transferring your custom domain to you if you cancel, which is the part that matters most, and to their credit that commitment is published. On exporting the site itself, published accounts differ: reviews describe there being no way to copy the code out, while at least one mentions a download feature. Get the current answer from Durable in writing before you rely on it.

The missing human. This one is structural rather than a complaint. At $25 a month, nobody is looking at your website, thinking about your business, or noticing that your form broke on Tuesday. The software waits for you to drive it. Owners who have the hours do fine. Owners who do not, and most of the people we talk to do not, end up with a site that was finished in 30 seconds and then untouched for two years.

Notice what is not in that table: any claim that Durable locks you in with a contract. It does not; both offers are month to month, and that row is a tie. The rows that separate the two are who does the work and what surrounds the site.

What the price difference buys

Gold Strategics pricing, public since day one
$80/mo Gold · $215/mo Diamond

Gold is $80 a month plus a $250 one time build fee: a custom built site, hosting, security, backups, intake forms, a visitor dashboard, and an instant answers widget. Diamond is $215 a month with no build fee and includes every tool package plus monitoring, priority changes, and monthly numbers by email.

Against Durable's Launch plan, Gold costs about $55 a month more, plus the build fee. We are not going to argue that difference away; if $25 a month is the budget, Durable is the better purchase and you should not let anyone talk you past your budget. The difference buys three things. A site built by a person to compete in your market instead of generated from a template. All of the maintenance, so the hours you would spend in the editor go back to your business. And the option to add the four tool packages, getting found in AI search at $35 a month, lead capture at $25, automatic follow-up at $25, and branded estimates and invoices at $25, each of which also works on a site we did not build, including a Durable site. At four packages Diamond costs less than the pieces, and we say so rather than let anyone overpay. For the full market picture, our website cost guide covers every option from DIY to agency, and the plans page has the two plans side by side.

Who is better served by Durable

Stay with Durable, or choose it over us, if the business is new enough that survival is still the question. A $250 build fee against an idea you might abandon in spring is bad math, and a free trial that becomes $22 a month is good math. Same answer if the website is a formality for a business that gets all its work from referrals and repeat customers, or if you like running your own tools and will keep the site current yourself. Durable's month to month terms mean trying it costs you almost nothing, and that is a fair reason to start there.

Look at us, or any managed provider, when the website has a job to do and nobody has time to do it: when quotes go quiet and nobody follows up, when the site has not changed since the day the AI generated it, when customers say they could not tell you apart from the next result. At that point the $25 plan is not cheap anymore, because it is quietly costing you the jobs that went to whoever answered first.

Moving from Durable without drama

The order of operations is short. First, confirm control of your domain; Durable's published policy is to transfer the custom domain to you on cancellation, and their FAQ notes the transfer can take around two weeks, so start it early. Second, we build the new site on a staging address while your Durable site stays live, so there is no gap. Third, the domain points at the new site the day you approve it, and you cancel Durable after the switch, not before. Content you wrote can be copied over by hand; the generated site itself is being replaced, which is the point. Total cost is the $250 build fee and the first month. If you are still shortlisting, the GoDaddy Airo comparison covers the other AI builder people weigh against Durable, and the Hibu and Townsquare Interactive pages cover the agency end of the market. Questions people ask when comparing

Is Durable a good website builder?

For what it promises, yes. Durable generates a working site in under a minute, has a free plan to test on, and its support team is praised by name in a large share of its Trustpilot reviews. The criticisms in public reviews are about the ceiling, not the floor: designs that look like other Durable sites, limited room to customize, and questions about what you can take with you if you leave. If you need a site to exist today for very little money, it does that job well.

How much does Durable cost?

As of August 2026, Durable's own pricing page lists a free plan on a durable.site subdomain, a Launch plan at $25 a month or $22 a month billed annually, and a Grow plan at $49 a month or $41 a month billed annually. Plans have changed before, so check their pricing page for the current numbers.

Can I export my website from Durable?

Ask Durable directly and get the answer in writing, because published accounts differ. Durable's own pricing FAQ commits to transferring your custom domain to you when you cancel, which is the part that matters most. On the site itself, independent reviews describe it as hosted on Durable's platform without a copy-the-code export, while at least one review mentions a download feature. Whoever you build with, us included, get the ownership and export answer in writing before you pay.

How is Gold Strategics different from Durable?

Durable is software you run: the AI drafts the site and you maintain it. We are a service: a person builds the site custom, hosts it, secures it, backs it up, and keeps making changes, at $80 a month plus a $250 one time build fee on Gold. The price difference between $25 and $80 a month is real, and what it buys is labor and the tools around the site: lead capture, automatic follow-up, AI search visibility, and branded estimates and invoices.

Can you take over from a Durable site?

Yes. If you have a custom domain, Durable's stated policy is that it can be transferred to you when you cancel, and once you control the domain we point it at the new site the day the build is approved. We build on a staging address first, so nothing goes dark in between. Our four tool packages also work on a site we did not build, so if you want to keep Durable for now, you can add the tools first and decide about the website later.
